WORKPLACE

ESSENTIALS

With the emergence of Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in December 2019, and the declaration of the outbreak a “Pandemic” by the World Health Organization in March 2020; people, and especially PWD, lost their opportunities to receive training programs, acquire knowledge and skills, and further their personal development. PWD, who have previously wrestled to find adequate training programs, now struggle even more with the pandemic to find training options, since mainstream classroom training opportunities have stopped leaving training opportunities that are customized for PWD needs in Egypt.

Helm has designed a Workplace Essentials E-Learning Program to empower PWD by offering them equal opportunity to learn and develop their job market skills - tailored to accommodate varying learning levels and paces - without compromising on their safety during these turbulent times.

Helm designed a 7 module E-learning program of Workplace Essentials E-Learning Program will be implemented and featured online, free, and accessible for persons with different disabilities allowing learners to study at their own pace, anytime, anywhere.

1-2 hours each module

Courses:

  • Art of Communication

  • Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH) by UNFPA

Persons with disabilities have the same sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs as other people. Yet they often face barriers to information and services. The ignorance and attitudes of society and individuals, including health-care providers, raise most of these barriers – not the disabilities themselves, whereas addressing of SRH as well as disability can be stigmatised in some communities all of which leads to PWDs socioeconomic disadvantages.

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness Online Course is prepared to overcome this stigma and help PWDs acquire knowledge about key health topics and common questions related to SRH with a “health culture” content developed by UNFPA that covers reproductive health (Including family planning), gender-based violence, harmful practices such as female genital mutilation, and early marriage.

Program's Outcomes:

  • Gain life essential skills towards their financial independence through preparing them to enter the job-market and raising awareness about different careers they could pursue.

  • Access the training program anytime, anywhere.

  • Overcome physical, social and health barriers.

  • Acquire soft-skills for self development and entering the job market.

  • Seize new types of work options; such as: freelancing jobs or work from home opportunities.
